During the year of 2021, I had about 7 people call me who were moving to Texas from out West! 6 of them were from California.
California is a licensed state for Naturopathic medicine, meaning Naturopathic physicians can practice medicine there. Here in Texas, Naturopathic doctors currently consult using therapies that are non-invasive and non-pharmaceutical:
- Nutritional guidance
- Herbs
- Homeopathy
- Flower essences
- Lifestyle and environmental changes
- Referrals
While these approaches are still quite effective for prevention and many health issues, there is far more we can do. This would include:
- Ordering labs on our own for you
- Prescribing medications. This includes compound medications, which can be quite helpful for customizing certain medications, such as bio-identical hormones
- Acupuncture
- Minor surgery – such as the removal of skin tags
- Screenings like physical exams and well woman exams
- Nutrient IV therapy
- Osseous/spinal manipulation
- Soft tissue therapy
- Regenerative joint injections – Stem cells, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), Prolotherapy
- Hands-on hydrotherapy
- Craniosacral therapy
- and more
Californians who are aware of NDs in their home state may be used to this type of extended support. If you are moving from California to Texas, there are two things I’d like to suggest for you:
- Check out txand.org. This is the website for the Texas Association of Naturopathic Doctors (TXAND). Here you will learn about the NDs in Texas that are trained in the same way as the Naturopathic physicians you are likely used to working with in California. There are NDs in Texas and throughout the South who have been trained via online certifications. While they can be very good at what they do, they are different by training and scope. This is why I am giving you this website.
- While you are on txand.org, you will see links to help support us in getting Texas licensed! Your support and connections can help us to accelerate this process. Be sure to especially click on these tabs.
- Go Fund NDs in Texas
- Membership
- Find a Doctor
Feel free to contact any of the NDs you see on this website to learn more about getting what you need here for your health. Even if it will not look exactly the same, we tend to know how to help you navigate well to achieve your health goals.
Welcome to Texas!
